Mirissa Coast

Mirissa is a small town on Sri Lanka's south coast, in the Matara District of the Southern Province. It is located approximately 150 kilometers (93 miles) south of Colombo at an elevation of 4 metres (13 feet) above sea level. Mirissa beach stretches for miles along the coast and is ideal for a day or two of sunbathing. There are several restaurants and bars that back onto the beach, so there are plenty of places to watch the sunset and have a drink or two after dark. It is also a fishing port and one of the best places on the island to see whales and dolphins.
